Access Statement for Spindlewood Lodges
Introduction
Spindlewood Lodges is a group of seven log cabins set in 10 acres of grassland, close to the villages of North Wootton and Pilton. The entrance to the lodges is set back from the road and entrance is via a farm gate onto a gravelled pathway. 5 of the lodges have standard doors and the bathrooms include a bath with a shower over. Lodges 6 and 7 have wider doorways and have a large shower cubicle in the bathroom.
Pre-Arrival
• We have a website which also includes a layout of the lodges inside.
• Bookings / enquiries can be made directly from the website via email, or via telephone or by letter
• All guests are provided with written directions to the lodges
• The nearest train station is 10 miles (Castle Cary tel no 08457 484950)
• The nearest bus stop is 2 1/2 miles away on the A361 at Pilton. The nearest bus station is in Wells (01749 673084) - 5 miles away
• The nearest town is Wells - 5 miles away
• The nearest shop is the village shop in Pilton - 2 1/2 miles away
• There are several RADAR toilets available in Wells as well as 2 in Glastonbury
• Shop mobility schemes are run in both Wells (01749 675599) or Street (01458 448355)

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities
• Access to the site is along gravelled driveways.
• Car parking is available alongside each lodge, with space for 2 cars
Main Entrance / Reception
• Reception is located at Spindlewood Bungalow, where you will be greeted and directed to your lodge.
• Either Linda or Peter will walk over to let you in and familiarise you with the accommodation
Sitting room
• The entrance door to lodges 1 to 5 is 80cm wide.
• The entrance door to lodges 6 and 7 is 90.5cm wide.
• The lounge has a 3 seater settee and 2 armchairs
• There is a TV with a free view box and remote control
Laundry
• We offer a 24 hour laundry service at £10.00 per machine load, washed and dried.
Bedrooms & Sleeping Areas
• Each lodge has 2 carpeted bedrooms - one with a pine double bed and one with two pine single beds.
• Double bedrooms have 2 lights over the bed with a cord to switch on and off. There is also a light over the mirror.
• Twin bedrooms have 1 light above each bed
• All bedding is 100% cotton with non feather pillows and duvet.
• Lodges 1 to 5 internal doorway widths are 70cm
• Lodges 6 and 7 internal doorway widths are 90.5cm
Bathroom, Shower-room & WC [Ensuite or Shared]
• Lodges 1 to 5 have a bathroom (2.5m x 2m) consisting of a toilet, basin and bath with shower over and handle. The shower is a power shower with a twist / turn mechanism. Vinyl flooring
• Lodges 6 & 7 have a bathroom 2.5m x 2m) consisting of a toilet basin and shower cubicle (90cm x 90cm) The shower is a power shower with a twist / turn mechanism. Vinyl flooring
Self-Catering Kitchen
• The kitchen / diner is situated alongside the lounge and consists of a sink, electric cooker, fridge / freezer, microwave, work surfaces and cupboards.
• The work surface and top of the cooker are 90cm high.
• A separate area has a dining table with 2 wooden benches.
• Flooring is vinyl.
Grounds and Gardens
• There are mown pathways around the grounds of Spindlewood with occasional benches situated alongside.
• Each lodge has outside lighting that can be switched on by the occupant. In addition, there is a light sensitive light on the verandah of each lodge.
Additional Information
• An information pack is provided, containing places of interest leaflets and local information.
• A guest comment book is provided
• Manufacturers instructions for TV and free view box can be found in the lounge, those for kitchen equipment can be found in the second drawer down in the kitchen.
• Smoking is permitted but ideally, on the verandah.
