Places to Eat

There are plenty of eating establishments to choose from in the area; country pubs and restaurants offering traditional Somerset cuisine and pub grub or more exotic fare, as well as cafes and tea rooms offering light meals and cream teas.

Here are some of our favourite local venues:

Wells has a number of restaurants in the centre from Fish and Chips to Italian to Indian, not forgetting the Chinese takeaway. Some of our favourites are...

ASK Italian

This is a pizza and pasta restaurant overlooking the moat and near Wells Cathedral. Great location and a relaxed feel to the place.

Testimonials

«
What a great setting, it's the first time that we have stayed here and we would love to come back. These are the nicest lodges we have stayed in - everything has been thought of. Just a bit hard to find the first time!!! In the days of overcrowded caravan parks and camp sites it's great to find somewhere with so much space and privacy. We had some great days out at Longleat, Bristol Zoo and Cheddar Gorge, which even though it was raining was still amazing and the rain doesn't affect you in the caves. Also had a lovely day in Lyme Regis looking around the shops and fossil hunting. We didn't try any of the local pubs other than the Wetherspoon at Wells, which is close, easy to find and good value. Also would recommend the Castle of Comfort pub; we found it on the way back from Bristol about five miles from the lodges. Lots of daily specials at sensible prices.
